Gongfu Tea Cups - by Muzuri Ware

A small cup, made for sharing tea.

Sized for 潮州工夫茶 · Chaozhou gongfu tea, this compact cup is designed for the repeated, concentrated infusions of Phoenix Dancong, bringing the tea naturally into the hands of those gathered around the tea table.

Made from wild clay, hand-harvested by Kyri, the stoneware carries the character of locally gathered earth into the cup. The exterior is finished with the studio’s layered ash glaze, where earthy browns, mineral beige and soft mossy greens settle across the surface with an uneven, weathered quality.

The glaze draws from wood ash, including oak, walnut and longan ash from our tea production, bringing together materials from the landscape of the UK and the making of Yanwu tea.

Small in the hand and quiet in presence, the cup belongs to the rhythm of gongfu tea, pour, share, drink, and begin again.

Muzuri Ware by Kyri Mouzouris

A ceramics studio founded by Kyri Mouzouris in Highgate. Drawing on architectural design and practical training in carpentry, blacksmithing and ceramics, Kyri creates functional ware through a material-led approach, exploring landscape, geological processes and the character of locally sourced materials.
