Gongfu Tea Cups - by Muzuri Ware

A small cup, made for sharing tea.

Sized for 潮州工夫茶 · Chaozhou gongfu tea, this compact cup is designed for the repeated, concentrated infusions of Phoenix Dancong, bringing the tea naturally into the hands of those gathered around the tea table.

The exterior is formed from dark London clay, hand-harvested by Kyri, giving the small vessel a deep and grounded character. Inside, a smooth ash glaze creates a contrasting surface for the tea, with its quiet green-toned colour revealing the changing colour of each infusion.

The glaze is made from a considered blend of wood ashes, including oak, walnut and longan ash from our tea production. The contrast between dark clay and soft glazed interior brings together two materials and two landscapes within a single cup.

Small in the hand and quiet in presence, the cup belongs to the rhythm of gongfu tea, pour, share, drink, and begin again.
