Tea Caddy - by Muzuri Ware

A vessel for the leaf, prepared before the tea.

Designed to hold dry loose leaf tea ahead of a tea session, holding enough leaf for around two sessions. Its compact scale makes it suited to preparing tea in advance, ready for brewing when guests arrive, rather than for long-term storage.

The profile is simple and upright, with a circular form that keeps the focus on the surface. Around the exterior, deep irregular grooves run through the clay like the bark of an old tree, their jagged rhythm breaking the otherwise simple circular form.

Made from wild clay, hand-harvested by Kyri, the stoneware brings a direct trace of the landscape into the tea setting. The textured surface catches the layered ash glaze unevenly, creating a dark and weathered character across the body, with subtle variations of earth, stone and vegetation.

The caddy is intentionally not airtight. Instead, it belongs to the preparation of tea, a vessel for setting aside the leaf, ready for the moment when brewing begins.

A small store for the leaf, and a quiet preparation for what is to come.
