老丛八仙 - Lao Cong Ba Xian
The proverb runs: eight immortals crossing the sea, each revealing divine powers. In 1898, a farmer grafted cuttings from a mother tree on Phoenix Mountain. Of all the grafts, only eight survived. Each grew into a tree of a different shape and character, yet each produced tea of remarkable taste. People saw them standing side by side and called them the Eight Immortals.
When the grandfather returned to Yanwu Peak in 1985, Ba Xian was one of the cultivars he chose to carry up the mountain. He planted exactly eight. It was originally intended to be drunk among family and friends only.
