Mountain Ridge Tea Caddy - by Tokocha Studio

A vessel for tea, shaped by the mountain.

Formed as a long, rectangular tube, the caddy is designed to hold dry tea leaves while keeping the vessel slender and easy to place within the tea setting. Its restrained form is interrupted at the opening, where the lid and body meet in an irregular, jagged edge.

The ridged opening draws from the profile of Yanwu Peak, its uneven silhouette translated into the meeting line between lid and vessel. Rather than a perfect closure, the mountain appears in the very structure of the caddy.

Across the exterior, the clay carries impressions made from small rocks gathered from Yanwu Peak and brought back to the artist. Their natural textures press into the surface, leaving an imprint of the stone itself.

Fully glazed in a richly detailed red-brown glaze, the textured exterior becomes tactile while remaining smooth to the touch. Variations in the glaze gather within the impressions, deepening the sense of rock and mineral across the surface.

A vessel for keeping the leaf, with the mountain held quietly around it.

岩 · Rock Collection

Earthy, tactile and grounded. The 岩 Rock collection draws from the rocky character of Yanwu Peak, its stone, texture and mineral presence.
