Gongfu Tea Scoop Series - by Muzuri Ware

A small vessel, for the leaf before the tea.

Designed to hold dry tea leaves before brewing, the scoop creates a quiet moment of appreciation within the tea ritual. The leaf is placed within the vessel to be observed and considered, its shape, colour and fragrance, before being transferred into the teapot or gaiwan.

The series consists of four related forms, each following the same simple function while shifting subtly in proportion, shape and scale. No two feel quite alike. Together, they reflect the irregularity of natural forms, as though shaped by different moments of the same landscape.

Made from wild London clay, hand-harvested by Kyri, each scoop carries a direct trace of the city in its material. The local clay brings a different landscape into the Yanwu collection, connecting the mountain tea to the place where it is brewed and experienced.

The surface is dark and moody, with areas of smooth glaze appearing across the clay in quiet patches. Rather than covering the entire surface uniformly, the glaze reveals and conceals the stoneware beneath, creating variations of depth, texture and tone.

Small enough to sit naturally within the tea setting, the scoop is both functional and contemplative, a vessel for the leaf, before the leaf becomes tea.

岩 · Rock Collection

Earthy, tactile and grounded. The 岩 Rock collection draws from the rocky character of Yanwu Peak, its stone, texture and mineral presence.
